Simon I love the way you re-frame student behaviors that could feel negative and understand them from the students' perspectives. Your writing is so descriptive that I can literally hear/see you in class with students. I would love to hear more about your experiences outside the classroom.
So enriching to hear you write about your experiences in an empathetic, insightful way. I remember nontraditional learning methods the most when I think back on my time in elementary school. Having an international + bilingual education is such a gift! I'm glad that you are able to reframe your challenges through a growth+ abundance mindset. Wishing you well. Happy Halloween!
Great post Simon. I wish more beginning teachers took the time to consider where their students are coming from to understand the behaviours they are seeing. All human behaviour is a form of communication. Keep your eyes and mind open to interpret and respond to it.
Love reading your teaching experiences. “Good morning teacher” was the same thing I said almost 50 years ago in my English class in VN. Learning another language is always special but can be nerve racking. However, those students are lucky to have you, in my opinion, not only to have a native speaker teaching, but also get exposed to different fun ways of learning than the traditional ones. Well done and you never know what of an important impacts you might have on those young minds.
